Vision, Mission, Philosophy

VISION: The vision of Classical Beginnings Tutorial is to support and assist Christian homeschool families in achieving a solid Classical foundation for their children within the context of a family-friendly schedule in order to see generations of godly, biblically educated leaders for the future.

MISSION: The mission of CBT is to partner with homeschool parents to educate their children according to a Christian world-view by using a Classical method.

PHILOSOPHY: Classical Beginnings Tutorial believes that all creation is under the lordship of Christ, including education. Therefore, all subjects will be taught from a thoroughly Christian worldview. In this way, CBT is distinctively Christian. We also recognize the value of a curriculum based upon the “trivium”, a methodology that integrates the stages of learning with a child’s development. Our curriculum focuses on the grammar stage, which takes advantage of a young child’s aptitude for memorization. We provide the foundational tools to maximize their skills in reading, writing, spelling, math, and Bible. In this way, CBT is distinctively Classical. We also believe that parents are the primary educators of their child. We do not exist to replace that valuable and essential role. Rather, we come alongside the parent to assist and encourage in achieving a solid academic foundation for their child. In this way, CBT is distinctively a Tutorial.

Holy Spirit: We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells God’s people and gives them the strength and wisdom to trust Christ and follow him. We believe that the Holy Spirit refreshes, remakes, restores, and reforms.. Church and Kingdom Life: We believe that the living God renews all things, and has been gathering a people, called the church, from every nation, race, class, and culture. We believe the church to be God’s primary instrument for making disciples of all nations. Thus, the church's mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ through the means of grace that God has provided; ordinarily, God's Word, the sacraments, and prayer.

Kindom Life: We believe God instructs us as his people to become actively invested in the world’s people and problems in productive ways by bringing his truth and values to bear on all of life. Jesus has power and authority to right what is wrong with the world. We believe that all aspects of our lives are to be lived to the glory of God under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

Last Things: We believe that Jesus will return, bodily and visibly, to judge all mankind and to receive His people to Himself.

Statement of Faith

The Bible: We believe the Bible is the written word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in the original manuscripts. The Bible is the revelation of God’s truth and is infallible and authoritative in all matters of faith and practice.

God: We believe in the Holy Trinity. There is one God, who exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Humanity: We believe that all people are created in the image of God with dignity as they were made to reflect God’s character in all of life. We believe that all people, since the Fall, are born as sinners, totally depraved and totally unable to save themselves from God’s displeasure, except by his mercy.

Salvation: We believe that salvation is by God alone as he sovereignly chooses those he will save. We believe his choice is based on his grace, not on any human individual merit, or foreseen faith. We believe that salvation is through Christ alone by grace alone through faith alone. Jesus Christ: We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, who through his perfect life and sacrificial death atoned for the sins of all who will trust in him, alone, for salvation. We believe that Jesus was raised from the dead and then ascended into the heavens, where he sits at the right hand of the Father, interceding for his people.
